About The Test A CT Scanner takes rapid cross sectional images of the heart. Takes approximately 20 minutes. The images are read by one of our radiologists. If calcium build up is found in the arteries that may be a sign of potential coronary artery disease. The results of a CT Heart Score may determine if any changes to your lifestyle are necessary to reduce or avoid the risks of heart disease. Who Should Have A CT Heart Score? If you have at least one of the following risk factors, ask your physician about a prescription for a CT Heart Score: Males: Ages 35-70 years of age Females: Ages 40-70 years of age Risk Factors Family History of Heart Disease High Cholesterol Smoking High Blood Pressure Overweight Diabetes This test is not recommended for anyone currently under a physician's care for coronary heart disease or cardiac related heart disease.
