CT

For all CT examinations:

Previous related examinations (other CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, X-Ray, or PET Scan) are an important part of an accurate performance of CT Scans and their interpretation by our radiologists. Please let Manatee Diagnostic Center staff know when and where any previous exams were done so we can obtain reports/films prior to your examination.

CT Abdomen and/or CT Pelvis (with IV Contrast)
  • We will need recent blood creatinine results.
  • If you have had previous allergic reactions to IV iodinated contrast material or previous serious reaction to food or medicine, please inform Manatee Diagnostic Center staff prior to your appointment.
  • The day before your CT appointment, please pick up barium and you will receive directions from Manatee Diagnostic Center staff.
  • Do not eat or drink for two hours prior to CT examination.
CT Abdomen and/or CT Pelvis (without IV Contrast)
  • The day before your CT appointment, please pick up barium and you will receive directions from Manatee Diagnostic Center staff.
  • Do not eat or drink for two hours prior to CT examination.
CT of any other area (with IV Contrast)
  • We will need recent blood creatinine results.
  • If you have had previous allergic reactions to IV iodinated contrast material or previous serious reaction to food or medicine, please inform Manatee Diagnostic Center staff prior to your appointment.
  • Do not eat or drink for two hours prior to CT examination.
CT of any other area (without IV Contrast)
  • It is not necessary to fast prior to these CT exams.
CT Angiograms
  • We will need recent blood creatinine results.
  • If you have had previous allergic reactions to IV iodinated contrast material or previous serious reaction to food or medicine, please inform Manatee Diagnostic Center staff prior to your appointment.
  • Do not eat or drink for two hours prior to CT examination.
CT Urogram
  • We will need recent blood creatinine results.
  • If you have had previous allergic reactions to IV iodinated contrast material or previous serious reaction to food or medicine, please inform Manatee Diagnostic Center staff prior to your appointment.
  • Drink 32 oz of water 1.5 hours prior to exam. You may urinate when necessary.
  • Do not eat or drink for two hours prior to CT examination.
Virtual Colonoscopy

In preparation for you Virtual Colonoscopy, you are instructed to use the following products:

  • Suggested Menu - Allowed food for lunch and dinner. Food to avoid for 2 days prior to Colonoscopy.
  • LoSo Prep - Laxative prep to cleanse your digestive tract.
  • Tagitol V - To mark any remaining stool, for differentiation from polyps.
2 days before your Virtual Colonoscopy
Starting at lunch 2 days prior to your exam, eat a low residue diet. Choose your foods from the "Suggested Menu" sheet. Please avoid milk (except skim), fatty foods, and caffeinated drinks.

1 day before your Virtual Colonoscopy
Breakfast: Items from the allowed food groups, one bottle of Tagitol V.
Lunch: Suggested Lunch or items from the allowed food groups on the instruction sheet, one bottle of Tagitol V.
Afternoon: Canned fruit, gelatin, fruit ice, popsicle, yogurt, apple sauce.
1:00 PM: Drink 8 oz. of water
2:00 PM: Drink 8 oz. of water
3:00 PM: Drink 8 oz. of water
4:00 PM: Drink 8 oz. of water
Dinner (5:00 PM): Suggested Dinner or items from the allowed food groups on the instruction sheet, one bottle of Tagitol V.
5:30 PM: LoSo Prep Magnesium Citrate Laxative Drink - see inside cover of package for mixing instructions.
6:00 PM: Drink 8 oz. of water
7:00 PM: Drink 8 oz. of water
7:30 PM: LoSo Prep Bisacodyl Tablets with 8 oz. glass of water. See inside cover of package for more information.
8:00 PM: Drink 8 oz. of water, do not eat food with water.
After 9:00 PM: Nothing to eat or drink.

Morning Of Procedure:
Upon rising, do not eat or drink anything.
2 hours before you leave home insert LoSo Prep Bisacodyl Suppository into the rectum.
